its not just chase. its capitol one, bank of america and others. i've recieved rate hikes from all three of these although i have a spotless credit record. i opted out, cut their cards up and returned them in pieces and sent their phamplets with the rate hikes to my congressman david obey. they are all in the extortion business. they know people are afaid their fico scores will be affected and their other bills like car insurance, house insurance, even jobs will be effected so they give you a choice of either accepting their outrageous, unfounded, rate hikes or opt out and have your fico score sink. its black mail, legal extortion of the masses. it has to be pushed by the press so that congress and the justice department stop it. they took our tax money, got low interest from the fed and now are going to ruin the country. people won't buy if they have to pay the exorbant interest rates on what they had purchased before and now just to fatten the bottom lines of mismanaged financial institutions. that is if they can pay the exorbant interest amounts. its going to be the number one next crisis and the government should just let them fall. they don't deserve our help. they should have offered everyone a lower rate if they agreed to pay more on the principal every month. that would have stimulated the economy. not cripple it.

I have received no retraction, and my next payment due the end of April shows the same 5% repayment and $10.00 service charge.
Myguess is that Chase retracted a small group, so it could say under pressure that " Chase retracted its fee and increase." They are truly a bunch of thieves. No matter how many billions they receive, they will fail.

I recieved my retraction letter from chase earlier this week and it actually included a blurb that the 5% minimum would be reset to the original 2%...thanks for the bone Chase...but the 3 months of 5% and the $10 fee still took money and time from the other areas of my life. I hope the class actions continue and they are punished for the 4 months of anguish they caused me and 400,00+ others.

I was one of those that just paid the $10 fee and 5% minimum...did they retract for those who closed their accounts or switched to the 7.99% APR?

You're right about everything. The fight isn't over (it's to early for champagne - but we'll drink - not that I drink a lot, but symbolically).
Thank you and bravo.
