“Scripted messages,” on the part of Chase executives and spokespersons.

Remember I mentioned “scripted messages,” on the part of Chase executives and spokespersons in this post

Do you honestly believe for one minute that in consideration of this site’s growing “Rant-roll,” the Chase statement by its former Card Services Division CEO is anything other than a bald-faced lie*:

We appreciate our customers, and we believe our success is based on maintaining a solid, long-term relationship with every one of them” (testimony by Richard Srednicki, March 7, 2007, page 1)?

Well, whether you believe the statement, or not, it sure sounds familiar.  This is strikingly similar to what Carter Franke, Chief Marketing Officer, said:

We appreciate our customers, and we believe our success is based on maintaining a good relationship with every one of them” (testimony, January 25, 2007, page 1).

The line in the March speech sure looks like a “save as” job to me.

I guess “long-term” means until Chase changes its mind, or its testimony, or its terms (or its executives; see the asterisk, and note below).

* I am willing to be fair to Mr. Srednicki; he’s gone now, replaced by the new Chase Card Services CEO, Gordon Smith, effective June 18, 2007.  Maybe Srednicki thought he was telling the truth, and since that time, Chase — through its actions — has turned his testimony into a lie.  I don’t know, although, it seems like a lot of customers have been ranting for a very long time.

[...] Does that mean “every one of them” except me, and 399,999 other account holders?  That would be an extremely large exception to Carter Franke’s claim (and that claim was also made by the former CEO of Chase Card Services; see the post on “Scripted Messages“).  [...]
