My VISA card has annual fee $60, after one year which is 08/01/2009. I called the customer service before 08/01/2009 and I was advised that there is 60 days I can continue using the card. I closed the account later within 30 days. There are three people using this account: My wife, daughter and I. My wife contiued using the card after I closed the account because she has other credit cards that she is using at the same time and she got confused which card is closed. I later found that the card was not closed and requested the card be closed immediately on 10/14/2009. Each time when I made the phone call to close the account, the customer service representative told me that I will receive the refund check in the mail.

I later found that they refused to refund the fee with the reason that the account was not closed until 10//15/2009 after 60 days.
Damage Resulting = I paid $60 for the service that I can not use since I have moved out of the country.

I had a fixed payment rate and autopay setup. When I went to change the amount of autopay to increase the payments, I had to cancel the autopay to start it up again. I did this all on the same day, 3 days before the due date. The system did not start the autopay, and it said I was late, even though it showed an autopay setup. My interest went to %22. No one would reverse this, even though they all agreed that I was never late and that the autopay was set up. Chase is a horrible company and very unfair. Do not open an account with them.

I would like to register a complaint about Chase and their excessive fees and charges. I have had a credit card with them for several years. It has a small max ($400) and I pay it off monthly in full. In this past month I incurred a $39.00 overlimit fee, on top of a $10.00 transfer fee because they drew $12.99 into my checking account to cover an overdraft. When I complained they would not refund the fee. I got boilerplate from India in response to my written complaints.

I've bankied with Chase for 20 years and its as if they have gone mad. They are fee crazed and wringing out every cent from their customers. Their CS reps are ill-informed and un-empowered, even at the supervisor level.

They hide behind the mantra that they are following the law. This needs to be changed and consumers need protection. This not about regulation who they have to lend money to, it's about protecting David when he is already in the hands of, and at the mercy of, Goliath.

Sincerely,

Lisa Helme
